Diamond Days: The Best of The Steepwater Band 2006-2014 will be out on 2/17 via the band’s new label Sun Pedal Recordings (Warner Music Group). They asked their fans to help them make the tough decision of which songs would make the cut and now that all the responses have been collected, they are proud to bring you a true “best of.” Today, they team up with Guitar World to premiere a new version of the fan favorite “Hard As Stone.”

In addition to remastering songs that encompass the last eight years of the band’s career and the new version of “Hard As Stone,” they recorded a brand new track called “Silver Lining.” The record will be available digitally and on CD with a vinyl release in April. All three are currently available for pre-order and for the next 24 hours the band is offering a 10% discount on all purchases with the coupon code “diamond.” All orders come with an instant download of “Hard As Stone (2015).”

Buffalo Killers Release their New Record Fireball of Sulk

Tracklist:
1. Blankets On The Sun
2. Weird One
3. Marshmallow Mouth
4. Something Else
5. Don’t Cry To Me
6. In a Number
(Cincinnati, OH) – The hook-heavy quartet Buffalo Killers released their new record Fireball of Sulk today. The six new tracks are streaming now on the Sun Pedal Recordings YouTube page. Vocalist/bassist Zach Gabbard recently spoke with Yahoo! Music about the new record.

‘Fireball of Sulk’ is our seventh studio album,” says Gabbard. “We are super proud of that fact. It’s really unheard of for a band these days. We’ve made more records than all my heroes.

Our albums really reflect where we are in a particular moment,” he continues. “Once the album is finally released, we have traveled six to 12 months on the road, and we are so far from that point of creation that to hear it again is exciting on many levels – we finally get to share the material with everyone and we have enough distance from it, that we can enjoy it in an all-new way.”

He also shares some perspective on the creative process: “From a songwriting standpoint, I had a time-traveling experience.  I was working ‘Weird One’ and recalled a song that I had written 15 years ago, ‘Marshmallow Mouth,’ and resurrected it for this album because they are both reflecting on my youth – only one was written during that time and the other, as a man 15 years older, reflecting on that time period.

Fireball of Sulk (produced by Jim Wirt at Crushtone Studios) is a follow up to Heavy Reverie, the full-length that landed Buffalo Killers a spot on last season’s Last Call with Carson Daly. The record is available along with exclusive merch and each purchase comes with an instant download of the song “Marshmallow Mouth.” Physical copies of Fireball also include a second bonus disc with all the songs from Heavy Reverie.

Upcoming Shows:

11/26 @ Northside Tavern – Cincinnati, OH
11/28 @ Canal Street Tavern – Dayton, OH
12/12 @ Skully’s – Columbus, OH

Not to sound like a broken record, but our albums really reflect where we are in a particular moment,” vocalist/bassist Zach Gabbard told Yahoo! “Once the album is finally released, we have traveled 6-12 months of road and we are so far from that point of creation that to hear it again is exciting on many levels – we finally get to share the material with everyone and we have enough distance from it, that we can enjoy it in an all-new way.

Gabbard continued, “‘Fireball of Sulk’ is our 7th studio album. We are super proud of that fact. It’s really unheard of for a band these days. We’ve made more records than all my heroes.”

I was working on ‘Weird One’ and recalled a song that I had written 15 years ago, ‘Marshmallow Mouth,’ and resurrected it for this album because they are both reflecting on my youth – only one was written during that time and the other, as a man 15 years older, reflecting on that time period.

Buffalo Killers Premiere New Song and Guitar Tutorial at Guitar World and Guitar Aficionado

(Cincinnati, OH) – The bearded, classic rock loving dudes in Buffalo Killers will be releasing a brand new record on 11/24 called Fireball of Sulk. Today, with the help of Guitar World and Guitar Aficionado, they are letting you hear one of the new tracks early and guitarists Andy Gabbard and Sven Kahns even demonstrate how to play the tune. Watch the tutorial and listen to the song here or here.

A lot of the songs that I write are attempts of combining both dark and light. Pretty melody with wicked overtones,” says Gabbard. “‘Blankets On The Sun is about tuning out and feeling dead. The lyrics are playful and dumb. A fun song to play.”

(Chicago, IL) – The Steepwater Band, a blaring rock ‘n’ roll group from the windy city have signed a deal with Sun Pedal Recordings (Warner Music Group). The label is home to raucous blues-rock music like the hook-heavy band Buffalo Killers. TSB plan to release a “best of” album early next year entitled Diamond Days: The Best of The Steepwater Band 2006-2014.

Looking to their fans to help them make the tough decision of which songs will make the cut, they created a survey (found here) where fans can vote for their favorite track to make the release. Each person that votes and enters their contact information will be entered to win an autographed merch bundle from the band. In addition to songs spanning the band’s 16 year career, they will record a new version of the fan favorite “Hard As Stone” as well as a brand new track called “Silver Lining.” The record will be available digitally and on vinyl.

The band and I are really looking forward to making some new music and being part of the Sun Pedal family,” says vocalist/guitarist Jeff Massey. “‘The Diamond Days’ compilation album will mark both the end and beginning of another chapter for us. I have a gut feeling that the folks at Sun Pedal understand rock n roll and they understand working together to make the music we want to make.”

“Silver Lining” and the new version of “Hard As Stone” will be the first studio recordings with the band’s newest member, guitarist Eric Saylors. The “best of” will be a sneak peek of the group’s new sound before they release a brand new full-length album next year. All of this new music will be recorded at Crushtone Studios in Cleveland, OH with platinum producer Jim Wirt (Fiona Apple, Incubus).

“Since Eric joined the band we’ve been non-stop touring and developing a chemistry that we are excited to bring to the new studio recordings,” adds Massey. “As far as working with Jim Wirt , we couldn’t be more thrilled to have his ears and ideas involved in our music.”

About The Steepwater Band:
Formed in Chicago back in 1998, The Steepwater Band’s signature sound is a nod to early British blues, combined with a modern, raw and gutsy musical approach. Founding members Jeff Massey (Vocal, Guitar), Tod Bowers (Bass), and Joseph Winters (Drums) have a synergy that comes from years of playing together. Then in early 2012, the long-time trio was joined by Eric Saylors (Guitar, Backing Vocal) who brought an added depth to the live sound. The band has maintained a grueling schedule throughout the last 16 years, averaging about 140 shows per year. After touring and sharing the stage with acts such as Gov’t Mule, Buddy Guy, and Cheap Trick they signed to Sun Pedal Recordings to release Diamond Days: The Best of The Steepwater Band. The compilation will be released in early 2015 and features tracks spanning the band’s entire career including a re-recorded version of the fan favorite “Hard As Stone” and a new track called “Silver Lining.”

(Cincinnati, OH) – The hook-heavy rock band Buffalo Killers officially announced that the release date of their new record Fireball of Sulk will be 11/24. The group gave their fans an “early bird” special last week, notifying each one by email that the record was available for pre-order. Each pre-order purchase comes with an instant download of the track “Marshmallow Mouth.”

They partnered with Relix.com for the official announcement and to premiere the music video for their song “Weird One.”

‘Fireball of Sulk’ was recorded during the non-ending winter of 2013/14 in Northern Ohio,” says vocalist/bassist Zach Gabbard. “We missed the first day due to an ice storm. Andy and I had written and recorded demos for the boys and listened to them on the way to the studio. It was the first exposure for Joey and Sven. We locked ourselves in the studio for 3 days to rehearse and record and filmed the entire experience.”

Gabbard adds “‘Weird one’ comes from those lost, pre-drug, days when all you wanted to do was get away from your parents, dye your hair and drive around with your friends.”

Fireball of Sulk was made at Crushtone Studios with platinum producer Jim Wirt (Fiona Apple, Incubus), where the band worked on their previous record Heavy Reverie. The video for “Weird One” was shot by Jon Richey of VUture Visions.
Upcoming Shows:
11/22 @ The Stone Fox – Nashville, TN
11/26 @ Northside Tavern – Cincinnati, OH
11/28 @ Canal Street Tavern – Dayton, OH

Buffalo Killers Round out a String of California Dates with an Appearance on Carson Daly

BUFFALO KILLERS: left to right – Zachary Gabbard, Sven Kahns, Andrew Gabbard, Joseph Sebaali (photo: Scott Beseler)
(Cincinnati, OH) – The hook-heavy rock band Buffalo Killers were in LA last month performing at the second annual Freaks For The Festival as well as appearing on shows up and down the California coast. The group was direct support for the legendary Chris Robinson Brotherhood where they played a blistering live set to a full crowd at Joshua Tree. “Pappy and Harriet’s is always a really great time and so far off the grid, that people disengage and finally get their fucking faces out of their phones.  You can really get outside your head there and, as the wise Shaman told us, ‘Don’t panic.’,” laughed vocalist Zach Gabbard. Check them out late Wednesday night, June 4th on Last Call with Carson Daly.
Sun Pedal Recordings still has some of the limited edition Heavy Reverie bundles available via their online store. Packages include vinyl test pressings, hand drawn artwork, a T-shirt, and more. Purchase a bundle and get an immediate download of the new album here.
